SCOPE
The Journal of Investigative Medicine is the official publication of the American Federation for Medical Research (AFMR). The Journal publishes original articles and reviews of broad interest to academic physicians and scientists. Submitted manuscripts undergo initial review by the editors, and those articles consistent with the goals of the Journal are sent for peer review.

The mission of the AFMR is to promote understanding of recent advances in biomedical science for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disease; to facilitate the exchange of ideas and information among physicians and other investigators who are concerned with the treatment of disease; and to improve health by fostering research in all medical disciplines through public policy initiatives and educational programs.

In keeping with the mission of the AFMR, the Journal of Investigative Medicine seeks to publish original manuscripts detailing the results of high quality clinical and translational research. In addition, the Journal provides an avenue by which investigators can publish scholarly reviews relevant to the research-focused mission of the AFMR. Such contributions include summaries of methodological, ethical, or regulatory information that is related to the conduct of clinical and translational research. Finally, JIM provides a platform for its readers to contribute observations and commentary regarding issues or ideas that are important to the biomedical research community. Below are the types of reports published in the Journal of Investigative Medicine: Original Contributions; Brief Reports; Review Articles; EB Symposium; Symposium and Meeting Reports; Research Tools and Issues; "At the Forefront"; "Perspectives"; "Seminal observations"
